Hosta or hostas are the most popular, low maintenance, shade tolerant plant in North America! Hostas come in a wide variety of sizes, shapes, colors, and are quite disease and pest free. NOTE, the pictures on are site are often of mature plants. Perennials can take 3 to 5 years to fully mature and exhibit their final colors, texture and form. Many plants have seasonal color or can change color based upon growing conditions., Thus, the starter plants you receive may not match all of the pictures but will with maturity. We try not to misrepresent our plants!
September 21, 2015 You may find yellowing and/or wilting leaves on your plants. This is normal and typical of perennials (including hostas and coral bells) at this time of year. Perennials experience a resting period (ie, dormancy) each year where their leaves fade and drop and they take time off from growing. It is fall here in Minnesota (growing zone 3-4) and all of our greenhouse starters and advanced starters and our garden-grown mature divisions are showing signs of going into dormancy for the winter season. We prefer to keep some leaves on these plants, even if less than perfect, to aid in identifying the plant if the tag is misplaced.
