Coral Bells (Heuchera)
Heucheras, commonly called Coral Bells or Alumroot, are easy to grow and blend easily with most other plants. Heuchera have a low mounding habit so they are often used as edging along paths or in containers. Coral Bell foliage is long lasting, salt tolerant evergreen. They grow most vigorously and have best color contrast when grown in partial shade (afternoon shade is best). Grown in full shade their growth rate will be slow. In northern climates some varieties can take full sun if they have consistent moisture but their colors tend to fade with the intensity of the sun. The bright, vivid colors will contrast well with your hostas or other plants for visual appeal all season and from year to year! Coral Bells come in most colors of the rainbow in a variety of leaf and bloom shapes. NOTE, the pictures on our site are often of mature plants. Perennials can take 3 to 5 years to mature and exhibit their final colors, texture and form. Many plants have seasonal color change or changes based upon growing conditions. Thus, the starter plants you receive may not match all of the pictures but will with maturity. We try to not misrepresent our plants but they are always changing.
