Once a very popular hosta, No. 1 on polls for years, until the desiccation burn on the leaf margins became a more well-known problem. H. 'Olive Baily Langdon' is a good non-burning substitute for H. 'Frances Williams.' Frances Williams was very influential in creating an interest in hostas, corresponding with hybridizers, botanists, and collectors beginning in the 1930's. This eventually led to the creation of the American Hosta Society.

This gives it more slug resistance. In addition, the blue leaves have a narrow yellow center and are deeply cupped. It all combines to make a truly unique hosta, definitely one of the most talked about new introductions.

It forms a medium to large upright mound of wedge shaped blue-green leaves that are beautifully rippled and cascade down ward. Lavender flowers with white throats bloom during August. Our pictures do not do it justice.
