One of the most popular introductions ever! Leaves have white centers and dark green margins, are slightly twisted and curved, and held upright on stiff petioles, forming a tight mound. The leaf center can change through the season, depending on sun exposure, from creamy to bright white to light green. 'Whirlwind' has unusual dark green veins, which contrast with the bright white center. A vigorous grower with good substance; slug resistant. Possibly considered a tetraploid. A wonderful hosta!
