Shiny medium green leaves with near white flowers in an immense vase-shaped clump. Excellent as a specimen plant or grown in the back of the bed for effect. Also known as nigrescens 'Elatior,' but it is debated whether it should be considered a form of H. nigrescens. "I am in agreement that it does not look or at like Hosta nigrescens itself...I speculated that it could be a hybrid between H. nigrescens and H. montana." (Zilis 2009) It grows well but does not set seed.
