Thick gray-green leaves with white undersides. The leaves are held on reddish petioles and are quite ruffled. This hosta has moderately cupped, twisted, folded, and intensely wavy leaves. An improvement over 'Grand Slam,' fertile and easily passes on its traits to the seedlings. Jim Hawes shared a batch of seedlings of H. longipes 'Urajiro Hachijo' with Alex Summers, 1997. From this batch came Alex's H. 'Candy Dish' and H. 'Smokey,' and Jim's H. 'Marilyn Monroe' - three excellent plants.
