Streaked hostas are often used for breeding purposes because they are the best to use for hybridizing. “Streakers” are the “Mom” of the cross and can give seedlings that may settle to a margined leaf.  Many of these streaked hostas are what hybridizers call “unstable” because the streaks can disappear with time. Some streaked hostas are more stable than others. It is often suggested to keep dividing and removing those leaves that have reverted, to prevent them from losing their streaked colors.
